Flying Cinema opens on 13 March 2027 at Plopsaland Belgium

Plopsaland Belgium will open the Flying Cinema to the general public on Saturday 13 March 2027. The opening date was announced in the new ‘making-of’ series about the attraction, in which Gert Verhulst, amongst others, gives viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look. The Flying Cinema will be one of the main attractions at Plopsaland Plaza, representing an investment of 25 million euros and, at the same time, the largest investment ever made in Plopsaland Belgium.

In the Flying Cinema, visitors take their seats in a moving gondola beneath an immense cinema dome. The combination of movement, visuals, sound and scent creates the illusion that visitors are really flying through the air. During the flight, visitors join Maya the Bee in discovering various recognisable locations across Europe, including the Dutch tulip fields, Venice, Paris and Plopsaland Ardennes. For the projection and audio, Plopsaland is collaborating with Barco, a world-class Belgian company.

A European first

The Flying Cinema is a so-called panoramic flight simulator and will be the first of its kind in Europe. Construction began at the end of September 2025. In the meantime, the initial decoration work has started and the film dome is being installed in the building. Over the coming months, the technical installations, theming and audiovisual elements will be brought together step by step.

‘Making-of’ takes viewers behind the scenes

The opening date was announced in a new ‘making-of’ series about the development of the Flying Cinema. In the series, Gert Verhulst, amongst others, offers an exclusive insight into the creation of the attraction. Over the coming months, viewers will be taken behind the scenes of the project, from the first test flights and film shoots at Plopsaland Belgium to the installation of the film dome and the final touches to the attraction.

Part of the biggest investment ever in Plopsaland Belgium

The Flying Cinema forms part of Plopsaland Plaza, a 25 million euro investment and thus the largest investment ever made in Plopsaland Belgium. The new square will be a central meeting place within the resort, combining attractions, dining and entertainment. Alongside the Flying Cinema, there will be, amongst other things, the Grand Café, a bowling alley, an arcade and a refurbished station for the Plopsa Express.

During the summer, Plopsaland Plaza will be open free of charge after the theme park closes. This means that guests staying at the resort, local residents and tourists on the coast can visit in the evening for dinner, a drink or some entertainment. The Flying Cinema will be accessible at these times with a separate ticket. In this way, Plopsaland Plaza will also play a key role in the evening entertainment on offer along the Belgian coast, even outside the park’s regular opening hours.
